Mocktails in Austin
Dry January has come and gone, but I’ve still got three long alcohol-free months until this baby is due. I became a big sparkling water fan last pregnancy (and now drink at least one every day), but this time around I’ve been way more into mocktails than just my usual sparkling water. I’ve rounded up a list of spots around town that either have an actual non-alcoholic beverage menu, or can make mocktails so good you almost won’t miss the real thing.
Punch Bowl Social
Located at the Domain and now downtown on Congress, this spot may have the best N/A menu I’ve come across. There’s a list of cocktails, shakes, juices and sodas all made without alcohol.
CARVE
The “sips & pours” menu at the American grille in in Southwest Austin features a list of elevated, non-alcoholic mocktails.
Vinaigrette
The salad bistro located off South Congress has a fairly extensive “Tinctures & Tonics” menu of beverages made with fresh ingredients, sans alcohol.
Sway
The drink menu at all three of locations of this popular Thai restaurant includes several kombucha options, drinking vinegars and delicious housemade sodas.
Dai Due
According to the web site of the butcher shop/restaurant in East Austin, the beverage menu includes all house-made sodas, aguas frescas, shrubs and tisanes.
The Peacock
The Mediterranean restaurant at the beautiful new Proper Hotel downtown has several non-alcoholic drinks on the bar menu included a fermented fruit soda and strawberry-balsamic shrub.
High Note Kitchen
The healthy and tasty spot on South Lamar has several aquas frescas on the menu along with fresh pressed juice cocktails that can be made alcohol free.
La Condesa
The longtime favorite Mexican restaurant downtown serves aquas frescas and a number of the beverages on the cocktail menu could be made without alcohol.
Juliet
Don’t miss out on sitting at the beautiful bar at this Italian restaurant on Barton Springs just because you’re not consuming alcohol. Although there’s no set N/A menu, the bartenders can whip up some delicious mocktails from sweet to refreshing and they’ll look beautiful too.
Grizzeldas
The adorable Tex-Mex spot in East Austin has a couple curated mocktails made with their natural juices squeezed in house, and most of their cocktails can be customized without alcohol.
Nickel City
The popular neighborhood bar in East Austin has a great cocktail menu and many can be made into mocktails.
Barley Swine
The Burnet Road restaurant with a longtime commitment to area farmers and ranchers has two mocktails on their drink menu: one floral, one fruity and they both sound delicious.
Tiny Boxwoods
The Kerbey Lane Village spot that’s a favorite with my girlfriends can whip up a pretty great mocktail. The “Dalmation” and “About Thyme” are both delicious sans alcohol.
The Wayback Cafe
The adorable cafe at the boutique hotel just west of Austin has a delicious sounding sparkling rosemary lemonade on the menu.
